We start this list with a Dan D. pick. She's Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica. Never seen the show myself, but, as I said, this is Dan's pick.


9. Amber MacArthur

Among other things, a host on the new MacBreak podcast with Leo Laporte and Co.


8. Amanda Congdon

Host of Rocketboom. Appeared on recent episode of CSI. Very perky.


7. Natalie

My favorite French Maid. Not very talkative, but she cleans up nicely.


6. Luria Petrucci (aka Cali Lewis, National Director of Geek Intelligence Agency)

Host of GeekBrief.TV. A favorite of Adam Curry's. Very cute.


5. Lara Croft

Pixelated or Angelina Jolie. Either is acceptable. (Incidentally, I'm not a gamer - nor have I seen the films - but I feel like a geek top 5 without her would be somewhat lacking).


4. Natalie Portman

As Queen Amidala in Star Wars. Garden State also works.


3. Zooey Deschanel

As Trillian (Tricia McMillan) in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Inspired me to write this.

The counter at apple.com just reached a billion about three minutes ago. Don't know how accurate it is, but I must admit I purchased a few songs just as it was about to hit. *Fingers crossed*

Yes, that's Fry

Somehow felt a slacker eating a sandwich and reading my blog was fitting. Plus, I got to play around with HTML - notice how he scrolls with you. And I set a hard margin so he shouldn't disappear. Looks good on Safari and Firefox. Don't know about IE yet, but screw it.

Talking Turkey

It seems the Turkish DVD bootleg of Brokeback Mountain has a title that translates as "Faggot Cowboys." Insensitive, but also inaccurate: As a link from G's blog points out, they're actually bisexual.

Still, this would have made an excellent title. "I love 'Faggot Cowboys!'" proclaims Leonard Maltin. "Two thumbs way up for 'Faggot Cowboys!'" says Ebert & Roeper. "'Faggot Cowboys' made our day!" raves the New York Times.

In the UK, of course, the title would more likely imply a film about the Marlboro Man.

If you dislike the Mac mouse experience...

The Dark Side might have a solution.

Haven't tried it yet. But I will play around with it later in the week. I am one of many (I suspect) Mac switchers who still use a Microsoft mouse because they just can't quite get used to the Mac scrolling (and, especially, love to right click). The scrolling difference doesn't bother me as much these days, but when I go from InDesign at work to InDesign at home, I find a significant difference - and I prefer the work scroll.

Right now, though, I'm not in Hobo, I'm posting on a PC and the scrolling on XP is driving me crazy, so maybe this won't help after all.
